Dancing with the stars tour

Dancing With the Stars is going on tour this winter and I was lucky enough to get tickets. We have to go to Houston, that's as close as they're coming to San Antonio. That's not too bad. We'll stay the night, we already have our hotel reservations. They won't be in Houston until January 29th so I have something to look forward to. Mark Ballas (one of my favorite dancers) will be on the tour plus a lot of other fan favorites. Derek (my favorite dancer) won't be on this tour but hopefully he will go on tour this summer with his sister. We'll wait and see. I have pretty good seats and got them at a good price so all that's left is to have fun :)

Getting ready for Christmas

The kids got the Christmas tree up and decorated yesterday so now it's starting to look like Christmas. I think I'm done with my Christmas shopping.  I've lost track of how much I've bought for everyone so I need to start wrapping to see if I missed anything. The cats have been behaving and haven't knocked the tree over yet. Emmy Lynn did climb it once before the decorations were put on. She keeps a close eye on the tree but hasn't tried to climb it again. The babies don't seem to be phased by it. We put Christmas stockings up for the pets and the kids. We'll see what Santa will bring lol.

November is getting away from me

I can't believe how fast this month is going by. I haven't had much time for blogging. I've got all my Christmas shopping done so that's a relief. Now to get everything wrapped is another story. We have 3 cats who were too little to do much damage last year to our tree. This year will be interesting to see how many time the tree gets knocked over. Hopefully none lol. We plan on putting up the tree and decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving. Since it's been Christmas in the stores since September it takes some of the joy out of it. But I'm sure there will be plenty of good times spent with families.

Tonight we are going to Green's, a vegetarian restaurant. Archer is a vegan so we're limited in where we can go for family dinners. But we try every Sunday to get together for dinner and Green's is usually where we end up. They have great cupcakes by the way.

I'm off now to go do some odds and ends, and work on my hair. That's a whole other story lol. That's all for now :)

What a fun cruise

We returned from our cruise on Monday and we had a great time. Very relaxing and a lot of fun. I won $70 at bingo, that was fun. But we had spent $80 so we were a little in the hole lol. It was nice having room service every morning and just sitting down having a drink whenever you felt like it. We are looking forward to our next vacation which will probably be another cruise :)

Busy, busy, busy

I've been busy this week getting ready for the cruise and finishing up my Christmas shopping. I hit a few snags in the Christmas shopping but everything is worked out now. And for the cruise I just need to try on some outfits and pack. Looking forward to the cruise and to the holidays this year. Hopefully we will be able to visit with my sister over the holidays. I haven't seen her in a couple of months and I miss her. So things are looking good for now, except I'm so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open. Maybe a nap is in the cards today :)

Shopping for the cruise

Yesterday Melissa and I went shopping and had a nice lunch. I was shopping for some outfits to wear on the cruise we are taking in a couple of weeks. I found several nice shirts and a pair of pants that went with everything. Melissa found a nice outfit too. One of the shirts I didn't like after trying it on and the pants were a bit small. So today we are going back to exchange them and take the shirt back. She also found another sweater she liked so I'll probably get that for her when we exchange the pants. A very successful shopping trip. I just hope I can find the pants in the right size. She's sleeping until noon so we are not getting the early start like I wanted. I'll be calling her soon to wake her up, I'm just excited about the cruise and want everything to be perfect. I can't wait!

Catching up

Let's see, it's October 8th and I've already got my paperwork done for September. That's a good feeling. But I have plenty more to do, files to make up and go through all the stacks of paper that surround me. I always have good intentions of getting it done but have a hard time getting started. The motivation just isn't there, looks like I need a push to jump start me lol.

I went to the doctor today for my follow up visit. I wasn't looking forward to it but it wasn't so bad after I got there. My blood work looked pretty good and I didn't gain any weight. So I didn't get any bad news, my doctor said she was happy with my progress. Now I need to get back on my healthy diet and start walking and exercising again. I got off track when I was sick a couple of weeks ago. My legs, feet and hip are still sore from the walking tour we went on Saturday night. And my feet and ankles are still a little swollen. I'm hoping to be fully recovered soon. I'm anxious to start walking again. But my doctor said no stairs or walking up hill until my body recovers. I'm getting better every day so it won't be long. I just need to walk on level ground. That shouldn't be a problem. After the doctor I stopped at Ingram Mall to pick up a pair of pajamas I had ordered online. I love getting new pajamas lol.

That's all the news for today. I'm hoping to take some pictures to post soon.  But first I need to have my hair colored and cut :)

The ghosts and legends tour

Last night me and the family went down to the Alamo to go on the ghosts and legends walking tour. I must say that the tour guide was a very good story teller. He had a lot of stories and made it very entertaining. It was fun walking around downtown. There were a lot of people doing all kinds of things. And our little group of 26 people were set to go on the tour. It was an hour and a half walk so I was pretty tired by the end. I did have a problem with some stairs, my knees don't like stairs lol. Thank goodness there were only 3 flights. And they had ramps going back up so I didn't have to go up any stairs. That was a relief. I must say though it was a very enjoyable night out with the family :)

I did get a pedicure on Sunday but I got hot pink instead of blue. Next time I'm going for the blue :)

Time for a pedicure

Today the plan is to get a pedicure. It's been 3 weeks and my feet are telling me it's time. I've been thinking about getting a blue color this time but I'm not sure. I might chicken out and get a normal color. We'll have to wait and see on that one lol. My legs are shaved and I'm ready to go, just need to wait for Robby to get home with my car. He went to get a massage this morning. He should be home soon :)

My sister's back

My sister is back from vacation, hooray!! I got my morning text and all is well. It's amazing that something as small as a text can make you feel happy. She had a great time, I think they cruised around the world lol. Robby and I are going on a cruise October 30th and I'm looking forward to that. It will be here before you know it. Welcome home dear sister, I love you :)

Head cold distress

I am so tired of not being able to breathe. My head hurts, my nose is stopped up and I have a bad cough. Even though I've been on antibiotics and steroids I still feel very little relief. All I can say is that I am sick of being sick!!

Catching up

I'm sitting here surrounded by cats. They always put a smile on my face. My husband came back from California on Wednesday so things are getting back to normal around here. I have a sinus infection that I'm fighting off right now. My doctor called in some prescriptions for me so I'm getting better slowly but surely. My sister has been away on a cruise that seems like forever. She should be back on Monday. I miss her quite a bit and will be happy when she gets back. I'm used to getting a text from her every morning and that gets my day started. Robby and Archer are off playing soccer tonight. Melissa is sick so she couldn't make it. She's laying on the couch watching TV. I've been in bed most of the day. I did get up long enough to go eat lunch with Robby lol. Now I think I will go take a hot shower and see if that makes me feel any better. That's about all that is happening around here, pretty boring stuff but that's life :)

The new season of DWTS started tonight. It looks like we are in for a good season. Even though I haven't heard of most of the "stars" lol. Derek and Mark did great but there were a lot of other good dances too. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!

I'm tired

It's been a busy week. I've been catching up on my paperwork. And taking 2 walks a day and doing my exercises. It's wearing me out lol. I'm almost caught up on my paperwork, should finish it today or tomorrow. Robby has been busy getting ready for his trip to California. He leaves Saturday and won't be back until next Wednesday. He has to get all his work lined up for next week so his workers will know what to do. They call him several times a day so I hope they make it through until he gets back. He's still trying to get everything done for this week too. Most importantly the billing so it can get in the mail. Gotta keep that cash flow moving. He really deserves this vacation and I hope he gets to relax and enjoy himself. He's going with his good friend George. They are going to see an old friend they haven't seen in a long time. I have to handle 5 days of being on my own. I'm really going to miss him. He helps me out a lot and we go eat lunch every day. I won't have anybody to eat with but I guess I will survive. I just hope he gets to relax and unwind. I'll have Archer and Melissa here with me so they can help me out if need be. It's time for me to get busy now so I'll be back later :)

I got a facial today, the first time ever. It was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Soft music playing and getting my face and head massaged. What more could I ask for lol. I really enjoyed it and have set up my next appointment already. Looking forward to it :)

Getting ready to go cruising

My husband and I are going on a cruise in late October. I'm really excited about it. Just a four day cruise with a stop in Cozumel. We've been there before but it will be fun to go back again. A nice relaxing cruise with just the 2 of us. The kids will stay home and take care of the house and pets lol.

Visiting my sister

I had the pleasure of visiting with my sister who lives in Austin yesterday. I wish the visit could have been longer but my husband needed to get back to San Antonio to work. We had a lot of fun swimming in the pool. Although I seem to be a little clumsy these days. I fell going down the steps getting into the pool. And if that wasn't enough I fell up the steps trying to get out of the pool. My sister was kind enough to lend me a hand and pulled me to safety lol. She is very strong as she had no trouble flinging me out of the pool onto the pavement. I'm still laughing about the whole incident. We went to dance class that evening and then out to eat. The food was delicious and I ate more than my share. I dare say I did gain 2 pounds while I was there but that should come back off with no problem. We went window shopping at Macy's after having lunch at Luby's. I saw a lot of cute dresses and got some new ideas for a couple of outfits. I also got to hear some great stories from my brother-in-law. He's quite the storyteller. All in all I had a very good time and can't wait until we can get together again. I love you dear sister :)

Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 and me are having a tough time getting to know each other. I've been so confused the past couple of days trying to figure this software out. Every time I think I have it figured out something else comes up and I'm confused all over again. Thank goodness Archer knows a bit more about computers than I do. He's been a great help today. Thank you Archer :)

Looking forward to Wednesday

I plan on visiting my sister on Wednesday and staying the night so we will have a good amount of time to spend together. I haven't seen her in a long time so I'm excited about our visit. I know we will have fun no matter what we do. I don't think anything's on the agenda yet. We shall play it by ear. I have a few weird eating habits so I'm a little nervous about that. My stomach doesn't like me sometimes. I was sick for a couple of years with stomach problems and it was no walk in the park. I think I'm almost back to normal but I always have that feeling that it will start up again. I won't let it get in our way of having fun. I can't wait until Wednesday!! Love you Jacque!

Time for a new computer

I have a laptop and it is so outdated it's ridiculous. I've updated it as far as I can for Windows Vista. But there are a lot of websites and videos that I can't get to load because my browser won't cooperate. And then there's the problem of my cat ripping through my keyboard and removing the keys. So I think that qualifies me for a new computer. I'm very technically challenged though so I hope I can figure out Windows 8. My husband's computer is just as bad and he can't get his fax or copier to work. He can receive a fax but can't send them. He can print from word processing programs but can't make copies. I want to shop for new computers and a new printer for him tomorrow, I haven't mentioned this to him yet. I will suggest that we shop for him  and while we are there I'll mention that I need one too. We'll see how this goes. I'll keep you posted lol.

New windows

We're having new windows put in and it's really a pain. My house is a mess because everything has to be pulled away from the windows. I can't hardly get to my desk and my paperwork is stacked everywhere. I know we need the windows but I will certainly be glad when it's all over. They say they will be finished by Friday, hope they're right! And now I get to go out and buy new curtains. That might not be so bad. We'll see. During all this we have to keep track of 3 cats and a dog. The workers are inside and outside so that's not an easy task. My brother-in-law has a construction company and is doing the work, I must say they are doing a very good job. But I can't wait until they are finished.

I cannot believe that I came out to get on my computer after leaving it for a very short time and Fabian had wrenched off my "enter" key. I don't know what it is about my keyboard, he doesn't do it to any of the other keyboards. I am just a little upset with Fabian right now. But he's too cute so I can't stay mad at him for long.

A very pleasant Sunday

I must say that this has been a very pleasant day. I got up at 9:00 and my husband had made bacon and eggs. Then we watched a little soccer. This was Liverpool's first game of the season. They won :) We went to Home Depot to get some address numbers to put up on our house. So they will be here when the contractors come back this week. Then I went and got a pedicure, always nice to get a new color on your toes. After that we had lunch at the Olive Garden. The food was delicious as always. I made a short trip to HEB and then came home to relax. I took a short walk this morning and will do my exercises in a little while. So the only thing left to do is relax with the family and watch some TV around 9:30. Couldn't ask for a better day.

Move Live on Tour

I was lucky enough to see Move Live on tour June 3rd, 2014. Derek and Julianne Hough put on quite a show. They are both ballroom dancers, singers and actors. It was a fast paced very enjoyable concert that kept your attention 100% of the time. Never a dull moment. My husband went with me and he was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed the show. Especially Julianne lol. I've heard that they will do another tour next year. That would be great but it's just hearsay. If they do you can be sure that I will be there!

Getting ready for the weekend

Another weekend is upon us. Tomorrow Robby, Archer and Melissa are going hiking in the morning. Since I am not in hiking shape I will be staying home. First I have to master walking lol. My plan for the weekend is to take a walk, exercise and get back on my diet. I'm sure I'll find something fun to do. I have a lot of magazines that I haven't read and also Derek Hough's new book to read. So I will have something to keep me relaxed and busy. I'm hoping they take some pictures while they are hiking. If they do I will share them. It's late now and I am getting tired so I'm off to bed. Goodnight dear blog :)

It's Raining !!

What do you do when your house is being painted and it starts raining? All the workers left without saying a word. They usually let us know so we can lock the gate and let the dog out. It has stopped raining and the sun is out now. I don't really expect them back today because they leave at 5:00 anyway. But they did leave their trailer here. So who knows? I guess we'll go lock the gate and see what happens. That's why my husband needs to be here when work is being done on the house!

Crazy

What a crazy day Monday was. I didn't get any of the things I planned to do done. Instead it was a comedy of errors. Went to the grocery store and got home to find I didn't get what I originally was going there for. So I went back to the store to get the forgotten items. After that I took a shower and got ready for bed. Came out to check the computer one more time before shutting it down. Only to find that one of my cats (Fabian) had somehow got two of the keys off my keyboard and chewed them up. Of course this upset me but at least the two keys he wrenched off were keys that I never use. Then I went to pick him up to give him a hug goodnight and he bit me on the arm. A pretty nasty bite that bled quite a bit. So I went and washed off the blood and put a bandaid on it. By this time I have had enough and went on to bed. I did get a good night's sleep but still wasn't feeling all that good when I woke up this morning. My plan for today is to do as little as possible and relax. The things I didn't get done yesterday will just have to wait until I'm feeling up to it. Which hopefully will be tomorrow. Maybe this afternoon if I'm feeling better.

We have had construction workers working on the house for 2 weeks now and they still have a lot to do. So far they have fixed the roof and painted most of the house. They should finish the back of the house today. I don't know what the plan is for tomorrow, my husband is out of town so that doesn't help. While this is going on we have to corral 3 cats and a very large dog to keep them out of the way. I'm afraid that they will start working on the inside of the house tomorrow and that will be hectic. My husband will be working again tomorrow but should be home Thursday and Friday. What a relief that will be. At least I have Archer here with me to help out while my husband is away. I am thankful for that. Next week they will start putting in windows and will be working inside and outside so I don't know what we will do with the dog. Keep moving her from room to room to keep her out of the way and hopefully keep her from barking at all the strangers in the house. I will be so happy when this project is over.

A Quiet Sunday

Today has been a lazy day for me. Melissa was working and Archer and his Dad were out running around. So I took this opportunity to take a nap. After the full day I had yesterday it felt good to just relax. Tomorrow starts another week, I have a lot of things to keep me busy. I'm just hoping I can find the motivation to get started. That's the hard part. Once I've started a project I will usually work at it until I am finished. So I guess that's a good thing lol. I'm getting ready to take a shower and then watch TV with the family. I've already done my exercises so I can goof off the rest of the day. At least what's left of it. So sweet dreams to all and we will see what tomorrow will bring.

A Busy Saturday

This has been a very busy day but a most enjoyable one. It started with a picnic with the Bellamy family. I must say it was very hot today and I got a little sunburn even though I was sitting in the shade. After the picnic Melissa and I went to Kohl's to do a little shopping. I had a $30 coupon and another one for an additional 15% off so we both got a new pair of pajamas. For less than $10 each. Now I must say I didn't need a new pair of pajamas but the pair I bought was too comfortable to leave behind. After our shopping we went to the Longhorn Steakhouse and had dinner. The food was delicious, the steak just melted in our mouth. I brought some of mine home for Robby since I couldn't eat it all. Then we had Molten Lava Cake for dessert. Very yummy. Robby got some of that too. By the time we got home we were pretty hot and sweaty so I took a shower and put on my new pj's. I'm feeling pretty good right now. I always enjoy the time I get to spend with my daughter. Another perfect day!!

I'm hungry

I'm waiting for my daughter to get home from work so we can go get some food. I want some grilled lemon pepper cod and shrimp. She gets off at 7:00 so she should be home soon. Please hurry Lissa, mama's hungry :)

A Great Day

Today was a pretty good day. I had a doctor's appointment that I wasn't looking forward to but it turned out to be all good news. So I'm on the right track with my diet and exercising. I just need to start walking and lose 45 pounds and then things will look even better. I go back in 2 months to see how much progress I have made. I'm looking forward to my next visit and hoping for more good news!

Tomorrow we take our dog Chewy in to the vet for her check up. She's 14 years old and is doing really well. I'm looking forward to another shopping trip with Melissa on Friday. We'll go shopping and have lunch. That should be fun. Might even stop and get my car washed, it sure needs it. And I'm really looking forward to visiting my sister Jackie some time this month and catch up with her. Life is good :)
